Conisbrough castle, South Yorkshire Built by Hamelin Plantagenetand owned later by the De Warenne family who also owned Sandal castle in Wakefield and more across England and Normandy.
By the 17th centuary the gate house and parts of the curtain wall were collapsed so the Castle was undefendable during the Civil-war and because of this, did not get destroyed like so many others all around the country.

Looks like a duel construct over different periods. The great keep in the centre having the earlier towers which were susceptible to cannon fire. The rounder towers helped fend off the cannon balls a little better. Lovely shot and location.
